President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the distribution of palliatives to Student Union Government (SUG) leaders across Nigeria. This initiative, which involved distributing bags of rice, was coordinated by Asefon Sunday, the Special Adviser on Student Engagement.

“Today, the SUG Presidents across the Federation, by God’s grace, will also receive their rice from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Asefon said during the ceremony.

President Tinubu Distributes Support to SUG Presidents Nationwide

Representatives from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones participated in this historic event. Asefon highlighted that the palliatives were originally planned for the 2024 festive period but faced delays. “The President gave them the rice, but unfortunately, it arrived in Abuja very late, around December 28th last year,” Asefon explained.

SUG Leaders Receive Historic Palliative Distribution

“This is the first time it’s happening,” Asefon noted, referring to the direct engagement of SUG leaders by a sitting president. He explained that two SUG leaders from each zone were selected to represent their peers and oversee the distribution process.

The initiative aims to recognize students as “leaders not only of tomorrow but also of today,” reflecting Tinubu’s commitment to empowering the youth and strengthening their role in governance.
