The University of Lagos (UNILAG) is set to celebrate its 55th Convocation Ceremonies, marking a milestone in academic excellence. The event, scheduled to begin on January 10, 2025, will honor the achievements of over 16,000 graduating students, including notable standouts with exceptional academic records.

Highlights of UNILAG’s 55th Convocation

Record-Breaking Graduates

This year, UNILAG will confer:

  • 561 First Class Degrees and Distinctions
  • 3,916 Second Class Upper Degrees
  • 3,763 Second Class Lower Degrees

Special recognition will go to Damilare Haroun Adebakin and Samuel Akinade Badekale from the Department of Cell Biology and Genetics for achieving a perfect 5.0 CGPA, as well as Olamide Idris Emida, the top graduate in Humanities with a 4.95 CGPA.

  • January 13, 2025: Exhibition Opening and Project Commissioning by Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN
  • January 14–15, 2025: Award of First Degrees and Diplomas
  • January 16, 2025: Postgraduate Degree Awards and Honorary Degree Conferments

A highlight of the event is the convocation lecture titled Universities as Hubs for Development and Wealth Creation” by Dr. Tayo Aduloju, CEO of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group.

Other accolades include the Gold Medal Award for Professor Victor Ariole and the recognition of Professors Emeriti Babajide Alo and Olukayode Amund.
